I am looking to purchase an pool heater for my above ground pool and want to know if I can use an inground pool heater for an above ground pool? Is ther really a difference that would effect my pool. I have a 15 by 30 that I would like to put a 200,000 btu heater on but am finding only inground heaters in this size.

We are looking to buy a used gas pool heater, but want to use propane. I have read that you can easily buy a part and to convert it, but I don't know if this is for ALL heaters. Its a 250,000 btu Hayward heater. Any help would be great.

HeartGP asked:

We moved into our house last year during the winter. It came with a swimming pool that we've been enjoying very much in the summer. However, the previous owner left a Stay Rite gas pool heater in the basement and we have not used it. From the original sales receipt, it's about three years old now. The owner said that it worked fine last summer, but we don't think that we need it and I don't want to pay someone to hook it up.

I was thinking about selling it and wondering if we could get anything for it?

Cheeze-o asked:

My gas pool heater stopped working. I have reset the circuit breaker and there is electrical power at the heater itself. I have also visually inspected the wiring and do not see any problem areas.

What else should I look at? Thanks!

Sunofagun asked:

The repair guy came out and fixed my swimming pool heater. He told me to keep it running for the next couple of days while it breaks in. The problem is that my pool filter system is old and is a piece of crap and I have to keep restarting it. So can anybody tell me if I can turn off the pump and just let the heater run?

Atidude asked:

I am going to get a pool heater for my above ground pool. Although I have an above ground pool, I'd like to know if I can install an inground pool heater. My pool is 15 feet by 30 feet and I'd like to install a 200,000 BTU/Hr heater but I can only find inground pool heaters in that size. Is there a difference in these two heater types that would preclude me using an inground heater on my above ground pool?

Rosanne asked:

I have found a used 250,000 BTU Hayward pool heater that I'd like to use to heat our pool. It's a natural gas fired unit, but I'd like to use propane instead. I understand that you can convert natural gas pool heaters to propane, but I don't know what is involved. Do I need an additional part? Any help is appreciated.

I'm in the market for a pool heater for my swimming pool. I live in Canada and my pool season is currently six months. We use natural gas for our house and it is piped from the utility so it's readily available. It's my understanding that natural gas heaters are cheaper to buy than heat pumps, but they cost more to operate.

Which pool heater tyep would you recommend? Thanks!
