Test Kits

Pool test kits are designed to let the above ground pool owner check the water chemistry of their swimming pools. These test should be performed on a routine basis to maintain a healthy swimming environment for the bathers and to ensure that adverse water conditions will not adversely affect the above ground pool heaters, pumps and filters.

A pool test kit will often use a colorimetric method for its analysis of the pool water. This type of test is performed by adding a chemical solution to the pool water, observing the developed color tha comparing it against a chart to quantify the results.

Test strips are probably the most convenient test method available to the home owner to check their pool water chemistry. These pool test kits use the colorimetric principle for analysis, but instead of chemical reagants they make use of paper strips that are impregnated with the anayzing chemical.

Titrimetric and pool test kits and electrometric analysis are also available available, but as opposed to an easy to used analytical package in a convenient to use pool test kit package, these methods require that a titration analysis for the analysis or an expensive meter. Both of these methods are more accurate that the standard home test kits, but are more difficult to use, are relatively expensive and are better suited for the laboratory or professional pool center use.
